PHOTOLUMINESCENCE
 GOMD 2008
In 1988, Hibino and Hanafusa  of NTT published an article describing the effect of stress on photoluminescence seen at 630 nm and ascribed to the non-bridging oxygen hole center (NBOHC)*.  We subsequently briefly verified the effect that they saw, but did no further work.  In a paper presented at the 2008 GOMD meeting in Tucson, AZ, we described our recent efforts to pursue this interesting connection between the macroscopic mechanical properties and the point defect 'atomic' properties of oxide glasses.
